Information on Immersion Baptisms

What is Immersion Baptism?
In immersion, the priest or deacon will lower your child into the water three times saying, "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Your child's head will not go under. A few minutes before, you will remove your child's clothing and wrap him/her in a blanket. Immediately after the Baptism you will wrap your child in a large white towel, (which we provide.) Please note the water is heated and purified.

Why choose Immersion?
Immersing in water was how Baptisms were celebrated in the early church, Today we, and many other churches, have fonts that make this method possible. It becomes a visible and clearer sign of what is taking place. "Baptism brings new birth. It cleanses us from sin. It gives a share in the death and resurrection of Christ. It invites a complete surrender of oneself to God." (Your Child's Baptism - Paul Turner, p. 25.
