Mission for Youth Ministry at St. John of Rochester

St. John of Rochester's (SJR) Youth Ministry is a comprehensive ministry that is TO, WITH, BY and FOR young people of the parish.  This ministry encourages participation, growth and empowers the youth at SJR to fully commit and actively participate in our faith community.  Our Youth Ministry program incorporates Advocacy, Catechesis, Community Life, Evangelization, Justice & Service, Leadership Development, Pastoral Care, Prayer and Worship to form strong faith filled Catholic youth within the larger SJR community.  (Renewing, 1997).

Youth Ministry Coordinator: Michelle S. Hunzek (421-9471) or mhunzek1@rochester.rr.com

E-mail Michelle at mhunzek1@rochester.rr.com if you want to be put on the youth e-mail list. This is a list that sends out updates throughout the year and reminds you of upcoming events. Parents are welcome to receive these e-mails too.

Youth Gatherings

First Youth Ministry Gathering will be Sunday September 13, 2009 at 6:30 PM in the Parish Center.

Youth Gatherings are for teens in Grades 9th - 12th.  The teens gather most Sunday evenings from 6:30 - 8:45 (see bulletin for date changes).  Our gatherings are on topics of teen interest.  For example Gossip, relationships etc.  Most gatherings are lead by teens with an adults help and direction.  We always find a reading or two from the Bible and discuss what the church Catechesis says about the topic.  Each gathering is ended with Shared prayer.
